Summer Road Trip 2017
For lots of people, the start of summer is the start of the holidays, relaxation and days on the beach. Of driving with the windows down and singing along loudly with the radio. The sunny weather gives everyone a mood-boost. And what better way to enjoy it than to switch on some of the most popular songs and get singing with your friends?
Whether you want catchy dancing songs or gentler songs appreciating the summer, there’s bound to be plenty to listen to!
For a throwback to 2016’s Top Summer Songs, try out Hot Summer Nights by Night. Hot Summer Nights was released in 1979, but has (unsurprisingly) remained a classic for the summer. Celebrating some of the most recognizable and appreciated parts of it.
For a bouncy start to get your day going, have a listen to One Direction’s Live While We’re Young. A memorable, energetic tune which will get you in the mood to dance about and really feel alive. From a youthful band comes a tune to celebrate the enjoyment and excitement of being young and free to enjoy the sun. Everyday, by Ariana Grande ft. Future, is also a fantastic, catchy song for dancing and bringing your holiday to life.
For more relaxing music, you could try Passionfruit, by Drake. Suited perfectly to sitting on a beach with cocktails. It provides the perfect soundtrack to chill by the pool. Following on from that, try out It Ain’t Me, by Kygo and Selena Gomez, which is lively but not agitated. Offering a great accompaniment to both lounging in the sun or running around on the sand. A bit gentler than the average party song, it works for pretty much any summery activity.
Perhaps you want to share the summer with a loved one, in which case you might like to try out Stay, by Zedd and Alessia Cara. It celebrates youth and commitment, an important message of being together to enjoy the holidays.
A list of summer songs would feel pretty incomplete without the popular Ed Sheeranbeing included. And while I See Fire could be a highly appropriate summer song for getting into a black car that’s been sitting in the sun. His newer release, Shape of You, is a wonderful, minimalistic song that lets you appreciate Sheeran’s superb vocals and clever lyrics.
Another song with great vocals is Symphony, by Clean Bandit, ft. Zara Larsson, a fantastic sing-along for car rides or road trips.
If you want a gentler finish to the day, try out A Little Longing Goes Away, by The Books, perfect for relaxing as the weather begins to cool and you enjoy the long dusk.
Something Just Like This, by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay also offers a gentler, more chilled way to unwind.
