No 1 Secret to Flawless Skin!

If you’re anything like me, you’ll be asking yourself the question, “How can I get clear skin this summer?”

It appears that the single most important item that you need in your skin care arsenal is obviously  sunscreen. It’s a good idea to use sunscreen that contains at least SPF 30. Limiting sun exposure is crucial to protecting your skin. So, if you must be outdoors; choose a large brimmed hat or other types of hats that shade your face.

Leah Bourne’s Forbes article 6 Expert Tips To Glowing Summer Skin addresses the importance of caring for your skin during the summer months. She writes that New York dermatologist Dr. Debra Jaliman advised to find the right type of sunscreen for your skin.

It’s important to know your skin type and identify if your complexion is flaky, dry, acne prone or super-sensitive. Pick sunscreens that address your skin’s needs such as a using a light lotion, gel, or powder if you have oily skin. She reminds us not to forget your lips when applying sunscreen and if you are out in the sun, use UV 400 blocking sunglasses.

Other than sun protection, there are other steps that you can take to help you in creating flawless summer skin. Flawless Summer Skinpublished on the Smooth website by Marni Dixit highlights the fact that family get-togethers, parties, and outdoor activities increase. So it is vital to cleanse your skin at night. It is never a good idea to fall asleep with your make-up on so take the time to cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face at night; your skin will thank you for it.

She also suggests using a light base that allows your skin to breathe, preferably a tinted SPF moisturizer or a mineral powder. In addition to your base, the right moisturizer is important since some of us tend to get oilier skin in the summer. Lighter summer moisturizers are ideal especially if they contain at least SPF 30. She also reminds us that air conditioning can be dehydrating, so use moisturizer accordingly.

Feel free to use concealer on those not so flawless skin days. She adds that using cream concealer on your blemishes and under your eyes can help your skin look better. Just remember to blend it well before applying foundation so it becomes invisible.

Other important tips include using primer to help keep your make-up where it belongs and can help with controlling shine. Using waterproof eyeliner and mascara to help eliminate your eye make-up from smudging when sweating or enjoying water activities. Cream blushes and eye shadows tend to stand up to summer weather better than powders.

The final and most important key element to having flawless summer skin comes from within. Hydration is important to maintaining healthy skin so drink plenty of water, feel free to add fruit or lemon to your water to make it extra refreshing.
